I was looking for a home away from home and Brunnholl was the perfect match for me. Super friendly and clean. I felt like I was part of the family. Looking forward to staying here again on my return next year. It was the perfect quiet spot for me to get some work done while taking day trips out to see the surroundings.

It’s much more better than my expectation. Even though it’s not close to any town, the hotel is stylish, super clean and warm. Also it offers good food and few breakfast.
The owner and staff here are very friendly, they sent the postcard for us.
It turns out to be one of the best places we stayed during Iceland trip

This place is great and the owner is so nice. We stayed two nights and the morning we were scheduled to leave a storm came through that knocked out the power and closed all the roads around us. They allowed us to hang out until the roads opened and even found ways to feed us both breakfast and lunch. The hotel itself is in a great location right off the main road and close to the small fishing village of Hofn. Part of the glacier is visable from our room and the food is delicious. Be aware there are not self serve laundry on site, but the staff will do laundry for a fee.

Our surroundings
There are endless possibilities to see and do in the southern Vatnajökull region

Fláajökull
The glacier you can see from Brunnhóll. One of many glacier tongues flowing from Vatnajökull glacier and the most accessible one. Good hiking area.

Diamond beach
Black sands and beaches are common sight in this area. Most famous are Diamond beach and Stokksnes, but it is also worth to visit Skinneyjarhöfði and Hvalnes.

Glacier lagoon
The large glacier lagoon is an unique place with icebergs constantly breaking off from the glacier and eventually drifting through the short river to the see.

Birdwatching
The south east is an interesting area for birdwatchinng. Particularly in the spring and autumn, because here is their first and last stop on the way from and to Europe.

Vatnajökull
Vatnajökull and its vicinity is a national park and from 2019 on the United Nations World Heritage List due to the unique interaction of ice and fire.

Höfn village
Höfn, actually means harbour, is the nearest village, known as the capital of the icelandic langoustine. As well as the tourism, the fishing industry is very import.

Sunrise - sunset
Photographers love to visit the region of Vatnajökull due of many reasons such as sunrise, sunset, icecaves and northern lights. And all the small things all around.

Wild animals
Reindeer are in winter iconic for the Vatnajökull Region. Curious seals can be spotted by the shore. And if you are lucky you can meet an Artic fox, mostly in wintertime.
Activities

Icecaves
One of the best known attractions in the winter season are the ice caves in the edge of Vatnajökull. But don´t forget the puffin tour in summer season.
Glaciers
What's on your list, to do? Glacier walks, jeeps- or snowmobile tour or boat trips on the glacier lagoon.
